Our trip to Palmyra

The main sites we will visit in Palmyra, the bride of the desert

  • The Straight Street (Great Colonnade): It is the backbone of the old city, a long street lined with massive columns, and it is still in relatively good condition.

  • The Roman theater: The theater still stands and gives a good idea of public life in ancient Palmyra.

  • Temple of Baal: Be ready to see the “remains” of this magnificent temple, of which little is left after it was blown up by “ISIS.” You can stand among its ruins and grasp the scale of the disaster.

  • Valley of the Tombs: It contains a collection of stone funerary towers that belonged to wealthy families, and it is one of the unique landmarks in Palmyra.

  • Arch of Triumph: Another emblem of Palmyra that has suffered partial destruction.

  • Palmyra Castle (Fakhr al‑Din al‑Bin Ma’n): Located on the summit of a mountain overlooking the city. Access is impossible because the bridge leading to it is destroyed, but climbing it provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the archaeological site of Palmyra in the desert.

Then head to Homs to pick up the rooms and have lunch at one of the restaurants in the old city of Homs.
